The Domino scheme is over 16 years in service to expectant mums and their partners and provides great support from antenatal stages all the way through to birth and home visits provided by the community Midwife programme. It was first introduced by the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin and due to demand and growing popularity, also embraced by many other Maternity hospitals too.
The National Maternity hospital launched some Maternity care helpful booklets and guidelines on birth preparation, health and positivity through pregnancy and birth.
Over the years I have noticed the mums that come to hypnobirthing really want to be at choice and they want to avail of more and more of midwife-led care services, as they feel that they are listened to and heard and supported and feel more empowered and in control in making decisions based on support provided by midwife's.
Hypnobirthing has been developed over the years from many leading inspirational sources, including Dr Grantly Dick-Read and Ina May, who have over 30 years' experience in midwifery; Katharine Graves founder of the Hypnobirthing Association; as well as parents who have openly shared how to improve upon these courses that best suits the mother while working in tandem with the Irish maternity hospital system.
Mums and dads become more confident, self-assured and empowered in knowing that they are prepared and have done the best that they can do in preparation for a natural stress-free pregnancy and gentle childbirth.
